Mitra Chem is a Silicon Valley startup working at the intersection of machine learning and battery development. We live at the cutting-edge of battery technology and aim to deliver world-class materials for the EV market within the next few years. Our goal is to be the first lithium-ion battery materials manufacturer to shorten the lab-to-production timeline by >90% through accelerated R&D and vertically integrated process optimization. We will first focus on lithium ion battery cathodes, converting them from commodity chemicals into a product platform, customized for different applications. We operate out of a state-of-the-art 15,600 sq ft industrial R&D center in Mountain View, CA. Join our team to be a part of the growing energy revolution.

We are looking for a North America Government Relations Lead to build the department from the ground up, lead Mitra Chem’s brand building and relationships at the local, state, and US federal levels. Preferred locations are Mountain View, CA or Washington DC - a remote arrangement will be considered for the right candidate.


  • Lead relationships with Economic Development, Investment Attraction, and policy-making representatives at multiple USA local, state, and federal jurisdictions
  • Participate in the site selection, permitting, and incentive bidding process for future Mitra Chem manufacturing facilities within the USA
  • Build partnerships with community and government stakeholders, and communicate the value of our products and mission to regulators and lawmakers
  • Develop public policy campaign strategies and materials in coordination with other team members, policy leads, product, legal, marketing and PR
  • Provide insights of how policymaking works at multiple jurisdictional levels, and have a broad understanding of the larger regulatory landscape on issues important to Mitra Chem
  • Actively monitor and report on key legislative and regulatory developments in the areas of climate, transportation, or other energy policy
  • Manage representation at local/state level and/or lobbying firms
  • Exhibit sound judgment, decision making, and political insight with the highest ethical standards
  • Travel up to 30% depending on business needs


  • 4+ years of government, market affairs, public policy, and/or regulatory experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Government Relations, Economics, Law, Communications, or similar preferred
  • Understanding of site selection process for industrial expansion preferred
  • Interest in renewable energy, electrification, sustainability, and climate
  • Demonstrated experience conceiving and executing campaigns achieving policy results and press attention
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, and ability to concisely summarize policy issues and advocacy points
  • Ambition to drive Mitra Chem’s government affairs communications with key elected officials, regulators, agencies, trade associations, and other influential groups
