We are looking for an Engineering Manager, Materials Characterization to lead the materials characterization team and build critical characterization techniques for battery material development.
Responsibilities
- Establish a metrology infrastructure roadmap that delivers a differentiated set of advanced techniques and analyses to support R&D objectives.
- Partner with our software and data science teams to set a vision on accelerating Mitra Chem’s material characterization and qualification workflow.
- Drive and upgrade Mitra Chem’s metrology lab infrastructure for battery materials characterization such as SEM, XRD, BET, ICP-OES, Raman etc.
- Lead and mentor a team of materials engineers and scientists to develop new characterization techniques and methodologies.
- Collaborate with the product development team to understand how the metrology team can uniquely solve product related challenges.
- Refine and optimize metrology lab workflow and resource allocation to boost operational efficiency, quality and safety
- Liaise closely with fellow R&D infrastructure management to coordinate, resource and effectively staff critical lab-wide activities
- Oversee daily experimental work and internal process advancements
Qualifications
- BS in material science, or related degree and a minimum of 10 years professional lab experience; OR Master’s degree in material science, or related degree, with a minimum of 5 years professional lab experience; OR a Ph.D. in material science, or related degree, with a minimum of 3 year professional lab experience
- Previous management experience in an R&D lab
- Deep technical understanding of materials characterization techniques such as SEM, XRD, BET, PSA, ICP-OES, analytical chemical analysis, etc.
- Previous experience with battery materials is highly preferred.
- Quantitative background in statistical analysis and programming tools.
- Professional communication skills across different functional groups
- Ability to multitask and manage priorities in a dynamic environment
