We are looking for a Materials Characterization Engineer to conduct experiments, perform data analysis, support workflow acceleration and contribute to internal reporting and communication.

Responsibilities:

  • Safely perform analytical characterization (SEM, XRD, BET, tap density, TGA, etc) consistent with standard operating procedures (SOP).
  • Develop and refine SOPs with a focus on safety and efficiency.
  • Perform data analysis using established routines for obtaining top-level metrics and report generation.
  • Contribute to cross-functional research with an eye to developing accelerated workflows and continuous improvement by performing testing, reporting and feedback.
  • Promote the highest standard of safety in the team and take responsibility for personal safe lab operations.
  • Manage multiple priorities with high flexibility and strong organizational skills.

Qualifications:

  • B.Sc. with 2 years work experience or M.Sc. in Materials Science/Physics/Chemistry/Chemical Engineering.
  • Experience with advanced characterization techniques for powder materials in a lab environment.
  • Experience with Lithium ion battery material sample preparation, failure analysis and glovebox work are preferred but not necessary.
  • Strong quantitative analytical skills, with attention to detail and stellar record keeping and documentation.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, hands-on experience conducting experiments, troubleshooting and maintaining equipment.
