We are looking for an Engineering Manager –Cell Prototyping to design, develop and scale-up production of innovative materials, leveraging Mitra Chem’s accelerated R&D infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Hire and lead a team of engineers to prototype battery cells in support of qualification of Mitra Chem’s cathodes.
  • Manage toward technical milestones on tight timelines and decide resource allocation within different product and infrastructure development efforts.
  • Manage workflows for different phases of cell making and testing in order to achieve efficient material qualification process.
  • Interface with customer engagement team to improve cell design and cell testing protocols to meet customer requirements.
  • Interface closely with the R&D teams for rapid iterative testing and de-risking of new product hypotheses.
  • Interface closely with the acceleration team to continuously improve the cell testing turnaround time and deriving actionable insights to feed into cathode chemistry and electrode design.

Qualifications

  • Experience with electrochemical cell fabrication and characterization through a Masters or PhD degree in physical sciences, materials science or chemical engineering.
  • Understand battery cell design trade-offs. Experience with tailoring cell design around cathode materials is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with battery cell making and electrochemical testing. Experience working in a dry room and with roll-to-roll cell making equipment is a plus.
  • Experience working in / project-managing cross-functional development teams in the industry.
  • Willingness to hire, train and manage a technical team across multiple workstreams.
