Our goal is to be the first lithium-ion battery materials manufacturer to shorten the lab-to-production timeline by >90% through accelerated R&D and vertically integrated process optimization. We will first focus on Li-ion battery cathodes, converting them from commodity chemicals into a product platform, customized for different applications. We are looking for a Business Development Engineer to support the negotiation and closing of development and purchasing agreements with lithium ion cell vendors and OEMs.


Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary contact for new Mitra Chem customers.
  • Drive the sales pipeline - including lead generation, quotes, proposals, purchase orders, delivery, and payment
  • Technical fluency in cathode materials key performance indicators and cathode product portfolio and sampling timelines.
  • Deliver sales presentations, both in-person and via virtual platforms.
  • Demonstrate technical expertise in cathode materials' performance indicators.
  • Assess and prioritize customers for engagement.
  • Skillfully negotiate sales and offtake agreements.
  • Provide timely responses to product and pricing queries.
  • Analyze market trends and adjust pricing strategy accordingly.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to guarantee customer quality during scale-up.
  • Assess potential fit with distribution channels for smaller orders.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships, offering both technical and commercial insights.
  • Oversee the sales pipeline from lead generation to payment.
  • Guide R&D efforts with commercial expertise.
  • Offer unparalleled support to joint development customers.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Commercial for customer prioritization and regular engagement.

Experience:

  • MBA, MS, or equivalent business consulting experience.
  • 3+ years in a customer-facing role in the battery materials space or other hard-tech industry.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, scrappiness and ability to interact with other functions in a cross-disciplinary environment
  • Experience developing a technical sales pipeline of inquiries, quotations, and deliveries
  • Experience driving technical sales autonomously
  • Expertise selling technical products and/or driving joint development projects

Travel - 25to 35% to customer sites - Domestic and International

Additional Compensation: 10% possible bonus

The following represents the expected range of compensation for this role:

  • The estimated base salary range for this role is $115,000 - $130,000.
  • Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in a bonus and equity plan.
